Today twelve of the thirteen student came together to begin preparing for the design work they will be doing in London. The morning began at 9 am and the students started working on designs that "infill" the 2012 olympic logo. Armed with markers and tracing paper (tish) they broke into groups and began thinking and sketching conceptually. These sketches were then posted and the students presented their ideas to Professor Leland and Professor Chimenti. The students were encouraged to refine their initial ideas and explore them more deeply and more broadly. The students then had to present their revised concepts again. While presenting the students were encouraged to monitor their use of the words "like," "um," and "ugh." After a lunch break the students were in the computer lab to go over the proper ways to create and prepare their conceptual designs for final presentation on Thursday.
